During a Lava Shell Massage, warm smooth shells are expertly glided over the body with varying pressures, techniques and precision enabling the therapist to reach the deepest aches and pains alleviating all stress and tension. Botanical Massage oil made from calming botanical extracts of algae and sea whip infused with safflower, aloe vera, sweet almond, sesame, grape seed, and avocado oils is used during the treatment to moisturize the skin as the warming energy of the shells helps to revitalize and rebalance the body and mind.

The heat comes from inside the Lava Shells due to a mixture of minerals and algae, with salt water and essential oils. When they are combined inside the shell, it creates a chemical reaction that causes a steady heat for the entirety of your treatment. 

The shells are polished and sanded and are composed of calcium carbonate (the same material found in our bones and teeth).  Because the shells are calcium carbonate, they give off calcium ions naturally when heated, which are transferred directly to the skin during the massage process. The calcium helps to regulate the skin's natural renewal processes and can help to give a client firmer, healthier looking skin, while also reaping all the benefits of a heated massage treatment.
